The labour movement in Iran is entering a new phase with serious attempts to set up independent trade unions. The recent Tehran bus drivers strike, brutally suppressed, is the latest example. Workers Fund Iran has been set up to reduce and relieve poverty in Iran particularly by aiding Iranian workers (both employed and unemployed) as well as providing support for child labourers.
